Description
The artwork is currently in the collection of the Nanjing Museum. It portrays
the scenery of late spring, with distant mountains shrouded in mist, peach and
plum flowers withering, and a profusion of falling petals. The painting is
characterized by its concise and vigorous brushwork, and its rich and moist ink
tones, which create a distinctive artistic style.

In this painting, the leaves are rendered with a technique that first employs
wet ink for initial staining, followed by a wash of flower blue (a traditional
Chinese blue pigment) to enhance the color.

The light slope is depicted using a firm and vigorous brushstroke technique,
characterized by tight and solid application of force, and refined lines. The
double-outline technique used for the tree trunks is also crisp and clear.
Together with the lines of the old man’s clothing, these elements form the
structural strength of the painting. This approach creates a striking contrast
with the fresh and moist appearance of the leaves, the hazy quality of the
nearby water, and the elegant grace of the distant mountains.
The painting embodies a blend of robustness and delicacy, coarseness and
refinement, and an understated elegance that contains a strong structural
presence. It thus creates a pictorial realm that is both aged and vigorous, as
well as solemn and ethereal.
The artwork is presented without glass coverage, eliminating glare and
reflections. This allows you to appreciate it up close, touch it with your own
hands, and photograph it freely.
